Use your breathing to help you feel calmer
Mindfulness is all about learning simple strategies to help us engage with each present moment – not worrying about what might happen in the future, nor ‘carrying’ with us things that have happened in the past. The simplest and most effective technique we learn in Mindfulness is to pay attention to our breathing. Breathing takes place continuously in the present and is there for us to use every second of every day to bring our awareness into the present moment. Make a little space for yourself as often as you wish by paying attention to your breathing – not changing it in any way, but just following the natural rhythm of the air flowing in and flowing out of your body. Paying attention to your breathing for a couple of minutes regularly throughout your day can help you feel calmer, less stressed and better able to manage whatever comes next in your day.
